Flynn’s birth name is Eugene Fitzherbert. He was born into royalty, the son of King Edmund. When the kingdom was threatened, a servant placed Eugene in an orphanage.
While in the orphanage, Eugene found solace in reading the thrilling and entertaining stories of a swashbuckling thief named Flynnigan Rider. He was so inspired that he adopted the name "Flynn Rider."
He found out that being a bandit and running from the law as a wanted man was not quite as glamorous in real life as it was in the stories. Flynn's life changed when he found Rapunzel's tower.
Flynn was designed to be the ultimate, hunky prince charming — some of the inspirations for his look include Brad Pitt, Hugh Jackman, Errol Flynn, and David Beckham.
Though this is a matter of some controversy, we are confident in our estimate that Flynn is 23 in the movie — 5 years older than 17/18-year-old Rapunzel.
