Magic Kingdom Rope Drop:  What Is It?

Rope Drop:  Like “Lightning Lane” and “Magic Hours,” it's a Disney phrase that doesn't make much sense to the uninitiated.  But if you know, you KNOW.  Let's get into it!

Rope Drop is the term Disney uses for when a theme park opens to the public and guests are allowed in.

For example, one might say “Magic Kingdom rope drop is at 9AM,” which means Disney will let guests in at that time.

Arriving for rope drop is a great way to enjoy the benefits of starting early, like less crowds and shorter lines.

You can “rope drop” at  all four Disney parks – Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Rope drop is especially useful for anyone not staying at a Disney hotel or resort!
