Disney World truly saves the “best ‘til last” each day at Magic Kingdom by presenting a fireworks spectacular called Happily Ever After! Incorporating an incredible display of fireworks along with an equally amazing exhibition of lasers, projections and music, it is a “don’t you dare miss” event for everyone!
The show’s star is the Cinderella Castle as it magically transforms to near unbelievable sights and then the grand finale is Tinker Bell as she flies through the sky above the crowd!
Before you watch Happily Ever After, check out these 9 helpful tips to make the most of this unforgettable nighttime spectacular!

1. Make The Show A Priority
Are you on the fence about whether to go or not? This is so much more than your typical fireworks show! We have heard all the excuses…”by that time, we are so tired, we want to go back to our room” or “the crowds are so thick it’s not worth it”. We know it’s hard to make the extra effort but we want to assure you that this event is really worth it. Happily Ever After is a Disney masterpiece!
2. They Times They Are a Changing
Happily Ever After can start at different times throughout the year and you need to know what time it starts on the day you are visiting. During the winter it can start as early as 8:00 p.m. and in the summer it can start around 10:00 p.m.
Along with the times changing, on special event nights the show doesn’t run at all. On Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights it is often replaced by holiday-specific fireworks – Happily Ever After does not show on party nights. You can check your My Disney Experience app or online here for the times you will be at Magic Kingdom.

3. Be Sure To Arrive Early
Happily Ever After is 18 minutes long but in order to get a good view you need to arrive to your viewing spot earlier than that start time. How much earlier? During peak seasons, you should think about 60 to 90 minutes early. Non-peak times show up 30-45 minutes early.
4. Prepare To Wait For Showtime
As we mentioned, there will be quite a bit of waiting time before the big event. Packing a small bag just for this event is a wonderful idea to make the time go by faster. Snacks, water, a towel to sit on, small games or toys are all great ideas for your bag.
A great game to have on your phone is Charades – this is perfect for waiting for the fireworks or while you are in a long queue for an attraction!
One of the best things we have done is purchase a bunch of inexpensive glow sticks and bringing them. Since there are so many people around, we bring enough glow sticks to give out to the children around us. This adds to the fun and festivity of the evening. In fact, depending on how old your children are, it’s fun to let the kids hand them out to other kids and it can be a great ice breaker to get them talking and making friends.

5. Location is Everything
To enjoy the entire Happily Ever After experience of fireworks AND castle projections, you will want to position yourself where you can see the front of the castle with a clear straight-on view. Try to avoid any visual obstructions when looking at the castle like trees or lampposts.
You can see the fireworks from other parts of the park. Some people like to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and see the view of the entire Magic Kingdom with the fireworks going from the top of the drop. Another popular place is from Rapunzel’s area. Just remember you will not be able to see any castle projections.
One other consideration is to try and not be too close to the castle or too far back. (You can watch the just fireworks from many other locations around the park and even off the park property. For example, you can see the fireworks from the Polynesian or the Contemporary Hotels but again, it is just the fireworks, you won’t be able to see the projections).

6. The Best Places To Watch Happily Ever After
So where are some of the best locations to watch the show? Here are some favorite spots:
- The Central hub in front of Cinderella’s Castle. This is the premier spot and will fill up quickly.
- Main Street, U.S.A. It is back a bit to give you a wider perspective and an added benefit is it’s easier to exit the park when it’s finished.
- Main Street Train Station. Cool place because it’s elevated and is a beautiful view of the castle. Be aware that this space is limited and some sightlines are obstructed.
- The Tomorrowland Bridge. We have found this to be a little less crowded than the central hub with about the same view – depending on how close you are to the start of the bridge. The further onto the bridge you are the less view you will have. You will have the best view of Tinker Bell from here.
7. No Special Tickets Are Needed
Your regular Magic Kingdom admission is all you need to enjoy Happily Ever After. You don’t need to purchase an extra fireworks ticket. That being said, Disney does offer special desert viewing options at a cost.
8. Rain Rain, Go Away.
Because this is an outdoor show, inclement weather can lead to cancellation or time changes. Check the official entertainment schedule on the day of your visit rather than assuming the show will take place.

9. Be Prepared For When the Show is Over
At the end of Happily Ever After thousands of guests are leaving the park at the same time. It can be very hectic especially if you have little ones.
We have found that after the show we like to go on an attraction (which usually has low wait times) or get a snack. Obviously if you have little ones who really need to get to bed, this is not an option. If you plan on meeting as soon as the show is over, prepare yourself and your crew for patience and chaotic crowds.
Happily Ever After is more than a dazzling display of fireworks. It’s a celebration of Disney storytelling, memorable music, and the dreams that bring generations of fans together.
Whether you’re visiting Magic Kingdom for the first time or returning for another family vacation, make time for this nighttime spectacular. Find a comfortable viewing spot, put your phone away for a few moments, and let Disney create one more memory to take home.
