Guests become pirate recruits, armed with a treasure map and your MagicBand or a magical talisman (which is really an RFID-enabled card) to trigger special effects along the way.
The goal is to complete missions in order to locate the “Treasures of the Seven Seas” while fending off threats from villains.
The experience stands out for its flexibility. Unlike timed events or shows with fixed schedules, you can start, pause, and resume this activity at your leisure. This makes it ideal for families with young children, those avoiding long lines, or anyone wanting a low-key break from attractions on a hot Florida day.
How to Start Your Pirate Adventure
The adventure begins at the Crow’s Nest, a small, unassuming building located on the edge of Adventureland, near the bridge connecting to Frontierland. Walk past the Pirates of the Caribbean and gift shop. It is located on the left hand side, between Tortuga Tavern and Pecos Bill Cafe.
The entrance is easy to miss if you’re not looking—it’s a nondescript structure that blends into the tropical theming—but once inside, the pirate atmosphere takes over with maps, treasures, and seafaring decor.Inside the shop, you’ll approach a digital cartography table (a touch-screen station).
Here, you choose one of five available missions. Each mission corresponds to a different pirate-themed map, such as the Blackbeard map, or others inspired by pirate lore. The system assigns you a unique symbol or code.
Next, grab the matching paper treasure map from the display. This physical map features clues, symbols, and a path outlining four to five stops across Adventureland. You’ll also receive your magical talisman—a card that interacts with hidden sensors at each location – if you don’t have a MagicBand.

There are five distinct missions, each taking about 20 minutes to complete, though you can spread them out over the day. No strict time limits apply, and you can tackle them in any order or even do multiple in one visit. The missions encourage exploration of Adventureland’s winding paths, shops, and landmarks.
At each stop on your map—marked by secret symbols or landmarks—you present your talisman or MagicBand to activate an effect. These effects are SO FUN. They include:
- Audio narrations from Captain Jack Sparrow guiding you or reacting to your progress.
- Special effects like glowing lanterns, moving props, water fountains, cannons, or animatronic elements.
- Interactive moments where you unlock chests, or reveal hidden treasures.
The clues involve observing details in the environment—perhaps aligning a symbol on a wall, standing in a specific spot, or triggering a mechanism near a bridge or statue. It’s scavenger-hunt style but enhanced with Disney magic: technology makes ordinary park features come alive.

We also saw some older ladies doing the Adventure together at the same time as us and they were having a blast!
