When you have a family of five, compared to a family of four, you need to make some decisions in life. Do you try and cram three kids in the back seat or do you get the minivan and spread them out? Unfortunately, Disney won’t let you cram 3 kids into a standard size room. Trying to find a Disney World Resort room for a family of five can feel like a bit of a challenge.
All Disney rooms can sleep four but adding that fifth person takes some extra planning. We are here to help with figuring out where to stay if you have over four people in your family or group.

Walt Disney World Hotel Options For Families of 5
Finding a Disney World resort that sleeps five people involves choosing between family suites, “5th sleeper” rooms, or larger villas. While many deluxe resorts include a daybed as a standard feature for five guests, moderate and value categories offer specific room types designed for larger families.
We have utilized a daybed on almost every trip and find them to be an excellent option. We have kids sleep on them, but some of our kids are teenagers and there has been no complaining about the comfort! There are no bars from a pull out couch digging into your back and you can flip the bed up to a couch really easily if you prefer.

One other thing worth noting. An option we will not be suggesting but can be used is to purchase two rooms that adjoin to each other with a door in between. This would work very well with a family of 8 utilizing the 2 queen beds in each room. The challenge with this option is that Disney often does not guarantee adjoining rooms. If you choose to go this option, we suggest calling Disney directly or work with a reputable travel agent.
Every single Walt Disney World resort includes transportation to every park. Bus transportation is standard, some additional transportation perks are noted.
Disney World Value Resorts That Sleep 5
The most budget-friendly option for five guests are typically Family Suites, which provide more square footage, a kitchenette, and two(!) bathrooms. There are only two options in the Value category: Art of Animation or All-Star Music.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
The Art of Animation Resort offers a Family Suite that sleeps 6 which includes 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette. Themes include Cars, Finding Nemo and the Lion King. Another perk of staying at the Art of Animation is it has Skyliner access and the theming is amazing for small kids.
Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
The All-Star Music Resort offers a Family Suite that sleeps 6 which also includes 2 full bathrooms and a kitchenette. The All-Star is not located on the Skyliner but has the standard Disney bus service to the parks.

Both of these resorts have 1 separate bedroom with a queen bed, 2 queen-size pull-down beds in the living area and a dining table/living space.
Disney World Moderate Resorts That Sleep 5
These resorts will offer what they call “5th Sleeper” rooms, Suites or Cabins as explained below. Options for the Moderate Resort range are: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-Riverside, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort (The Cabins), Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
This resort is one of the most popular for families of five because it has many rooms that qualify as the “5th Sleeper” pull down bed. Along with the pull down bed, the Caribbean Beach has two queen beds and the property sits on the Skyliner as it’s hub.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-Riverside
Similar to the Caribbean Beach Resort, Port Orleans has the 5th Sleeper pull down bed and two queen beds. You will receive the standard hotel features including a mini fridge, 2 sinks and coffee maker but they do not have a kitchenette. Though Port Orleans isn’t on the Skyliner, it does have access to Disney Springs with boat transportation.
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
These cabins are great for a family of 5 or 6. They are 504 sq ft, and include a full refrigerator, microwave, stove, oven, and everything needed to make yourself at home. The sleeping arrangements have a Murphy pull down bed along with a double bed in a separate bedroom and a bunkbed.
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
When staying at the Coronado Springs Resort, you will need a Junior Suite which has 2 queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa. There is also a living room area with table and chairs, however there is no kitchenette in these junior suites, only a mini refrigerator, coffee maker and other typical hotel fixtures.
