Apple AirTags are becoming very popular – and for good reason! They are a simple to use tracking device that connects to your Apple device. If you are wondering if there are uses for an AirTag while you are in Disney – we say yes!
Apple AirTags are small tracking devices that help locate personal items by leveraging Apple’s extensive ecosystem. They use Bluetooth LE to communicate with nearby connected Apple devices and the U1 chip with Ultra-Wideband technology for precise location tracking.
When an AirTag is within range of any Apple device in the Find My network, it anonymously updates its location to iCloud, which you can view in the Find My app. The app allows you to play a sound, use Precision Finding for exact directions, or put the AirTag in Lost Mode to receive notifications if found. Privacy and security are ensured through end-to-end encryption and alerts for unwanted tracking.
AirTags are only compatible with Apple, so if you are not an Apple person be sure to check out the Tile! All the tips below work with the Tile as well as AirTags. Tile is compatible with both iOs and Android.

1. Track Your Luggage
This is probably the most obvious use of Apple AirTags. Simply put an AirTag inside your luggage to see where it is! Being able to track your bag can give you peace of mind – especially if you have experienced a lost bag in the past. Of course, you won’t be able to retrieve your bag if it gets lost, but you CAN assist the airline in helping to locate your luggage.
2. Keep Track Of Your Kids
This is perhaps the best use of the AirTags in situations such as Disney World. Your kids are in a very large, very crowded environment. It can be extremely easy to get separated from family – especially when exiting shows. While we haven’t heard of anyone ever needing to use an AirTag to locate their child, this is a simple way to know exactly where your kid is at all times.
There are a number of ways that you can attach an AirTag to your child. You can use a bracelet, attached to their shoes, in an air tag necklace, or in a zippered pocket.
Lost Child Tip: If you do ever find yourself missing your child, start yelling “I am looking for a 3 year old boy named Joe, he is wearing a blue shirt with Mickey on it and has brown hair!” Keep yelling this and get as much attention as you can. People will help you locate your child quickly!
We also recommend you take a photo of your kids each morning of your trip. Not only will you have a very recent picture with exact outfits, you are more likely to have smiling faces before the Disney exhaustion sets in.
3. Track Kids Special Toys
If your child is extremely attached to a “lovey” attaching an AirTag to it while not at home is a great idea. You will be able to easily locate the special toy and will prevent unnecessary melt downs and inability to sleep!
4. Track Backpack/Fanny Pack
Similar to the luggage tip – simply put an AirTag in a secure pocket in your backpack or fanny pack and you will always know where it is! One time we were visiting Chicago and set our backpack down in a cafe while we got some coffee. We left, went to the train station, and got on the train when we realized we had let our backpack at the cafe. Trust us – this happens – and an AirTag will help.
You can grab your AirTag out of your luggage and put it in your backpack while you are out, or get a separate one for each item.
5. Parked Car Locator
Leaving an AirTag in your car is a simple way to find your car at the end of the day! It can be very easy to forget where you parked, especially in the excitement of getting to the Disney Parks and heading to rope drop. Leaving an AirTag in your car means you don’t have to take the time to note your parking location in an app or take a picture of the parking location.
This is also helpful when you are leaving your car at the airport or in another short term parking situation.
6. Track Your Car Keys
If you get a key ring attachment with your AirTags you can go ahead and attach that to your car keys! When we are traveling to Disney and not needing our car keys for a week it can be very easy to misplace them.
Using the AirTags helps to make sure that we always know where our keys are – especially right before departure. If you are renting a car this gives you some peace of mind that you won’t lose the keys – you know the car rental will charge you a lot more than the price of an Air Tag!
7. Track Your Stroller
From time to time we have heard of strollers being stolen. There are not very nice people in this world, even at Disney World. Leaving an AirTag somewhere in your stroller is an extremely smart idea. Make sure it is in a location that a thief will not notice it.
One note: It is very common for cast members to move and organize strollers while you are in an attraction. Before you panic and assume your stroller was stolen, be sure to check your AirTag to see if it was simply moved to a different, nearby location. We have many more stroller tips you need here.
Of course, AirTags are not a necessary purchase for your trip to Walt Disney World. That being said, if you have been contemplating getting some this is the perfect time to get them. You definitely will have plenty of uses for your AirTag while at Disney World – and you can obviously use them when you return home!
We have more items you may want to consider packing for your Disney Trip – including things like rash ointment and night lights! You can see our entire unique packing list here.
