Merida – the 11th Official Disney Princess

Merida is the eleventh official Disney princess. She is the star of the movie Brave! Brave is a unique movie as it is set in Scotland and focuses more on the love of family instead of a love story between a prince and princess.

Brave was released on June 22, 2012. It received a Golden Globe award for Best Animated Film. Brave is officially a Pixar movie.

Merida is 16 years old and from Scotland. She has an outgoing forceful personality but we also so her softness. Merida is an excellent archer and refuses to marry a man due to tradition.

Merida and her mother have an argument, and Merida runs away to a with who promises to help change her fate. Through a course of events, Merida’s mother and brother change into bears. It is up to Merida to get them back into human form before it is too late.
